Q:  Are the Core Rules the only book I will need to play?

A:  Yes, the Core Rules contains all that you will ever need to play Ember Twilight.

Q:  What is EmberWorld?

A:  EmberWorld is a pre-made campaign setting, complete with nations, history, culture, and mystery.  It will provide you with virtually limitless campaign options for your gaming group.

Q:  Do I need EmberWorld to play Ember Twilight?

A:  No.  We made sure that you would need to buy one book to play Ember Twilight.  We do not wish to force any setting on any narrator.  Instead, we believe in giving you the tools and the freedom to create your own.

Q:  Do I need the Core Rules to play EmberWorld?

A:  Not necessarily.  The material about the setting of EmberWorld is kept wholly separate from any material that requires you to know the Ember Twilight system.  Therefore, if there is another gaming system out there that you would prefer to use, EmberWorld will support it.

Q:  Are the Core Rules or EmberWorld D20 compatible?

A:  The Core Rules are not, and frankly don’t need to be.  The Core Rules are system mechanics and tools meant to help players and narrators create and enjoy their own campaigns.  EmberWorld, however, is compatible with any system (as mentioned above).  So if you are a D20 fan, you will find that D20 seamlessly fits here.

Q:  Will you be supporting both the Core Rules and EmberWorld?

A:  Most definitely.  We already have several works written to support both.  If you prefer making your own setting, you will find a myriad of books that will come from Twilight Press to help you.  If you fall in love with EmberWorld (as we have), there too you will find a good number of resources to add depth and enjoyment to your play sessions.  Also, you will find new things added to our Free Stuff section from time to time.  Keep checking there for new resources.

Q:  How does Ember Twilight’s system work?

A:  It is skill based using a percentile system.  You will roll a hundred sided dice (or two 10 sided dice), if it is lower than your skill percent  you succeed in your skill.  If it is higher, you fail.  That is a basic description, but it should give you a clear idea of how the system works.  The narrator does not have to constantly be setting target values or thinking of skill modifiers as many are already built into the character’s skill values.
